New Haven Police Officer Christopher Troche was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 21, after turning himself in at the department, said Officer Scott Shumway, of the New Haven Police.

The investigation into Troche's action began in April when a New Haven Police officer was approached by a woman reporting unwanted contact Troche, Shumway said.

After the initial report was taken, members of the Internal Affairs Division were alerted to the allegations, and an internal affairs investigation was initiated.

After a lengthy criminal investigation, the facts of the incidents were presented to the State’s Attorney’s office, and it was determined that probable cause existed to obtain an arrest warrant, Shumway said.

The arrest warrant charges Troche with patronizing a prostitute with a $25,000 bond.

Troche has been on administrative leave since April 5, 2021. Troche has been a member of the New Haven Police Department since September 17, 2018, and is currently assigned to the patrol division.

"The New Haven Police Department takes all complaints on officers that violate the public’s trust seriously," Shumway said. "We work extremely hard to be transparent to the community and offer many ways for citizens to make complaints against officers."
